Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD.

Psalm 98: 4-6

Calling all singers (or anyone who has the desire to 'Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord').  You may have seen that the choir has resumed for the fall season.  The choir is seeking new members.  Can't make a commitment to every Sunday (eg. work, vacations etc.)?  We are flexible -- ask any member!  The more members we have the more we can be flexible to your needs.

Every rehearsal begins at 7:00pm on Wednesday with a time of devotion to help keep us focused on what we are there for.  Our purpose is NOT to sing every note perfectly, (although it is a desire) but rather we are there to give praise to our God using our gifts and abilities.  Each rehearsal ends at 8:30pm with a prayer with special emphasis on requests and needs of the members.

We currently sing at one service on most Sundays from September through May… usually alternating between the two services with a couple special services or programs.   Please give this some thought and prayer and join us.   There is no need to contact me first… just come at 7pm on ANY Wednesday in the conference room.  If you have questions… you can reach me at gregswanson@beautifulsavior.net or by phone at 520-404-7066.

Other needs and desires through the year are for instrumentalists.  We occasionally have anthems that would benefit from instrumental accompaniment.  We also occasionally have hymns during worship that could use an instrumental accompaniment as well.  These can be any type of instruments both wind instruments, string and percussion.  A second keyboard is occasionally needed as well.  If you are an instrumentalist or know of someone… please consider this and let us know.

Here are a few comments from current members when asked "Why do I sing in the choir?"

  • "It is such a joyful experience to share the gift of music and being part of the beautiful chords that ensue carrying the messages of trust and hope to those who hear."

  •  "I have sung in church choirs since 1975 with just a few breaks.  I love singing praises to the Lord and evangelizing through music.  I have nothing to offer the Lord that He can’t get on His own.  That is, except what is in my heart.  I want to bring to Him the joy that is in my heart because of the work of salvation that He has done for me, and for all of mankind!  We have a gracious and loving God to whom I gladly bring what is in my heart."

  •  "I was always cold because the A/C is always on too much. The robe keeps me warm."

Rehearsals last from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.  We sing once each week on a rotating schedule.  You can see the rotation for the fall/winter and spring season on the special music schedule by clicking here and following the menus.

For those who may not be able to participate in the choir, but still have a desire to give a gift of music to worship on Sunday morning -- PLEASE see either me or Becky.  We would love to get you on the schedule.  During the choir season, one service may be open for special music each Sunday.  Feel free to check our special music calendar on the choir site to see what services are open.  You can find it at www.bslcchoir.org

Please prayerfully consider joining us as part of this vital and exciting ministry at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
